Lives and works in New York
In my paintings I try to represent women as an universal individual and then I put them in different situations using the gesture or expression of their faces and bodies as a way to express how women are seeing today. I represent them as a result of a social, political and cultural experience. I also try to place them in situations where they appear as simple stereotypes.
The figures move usually in an open space, giving the viewer the possibility of imagine the rest of the situation. There is a narration or story that begins but is the spectator who continues it.
My paintings are figurative but neither realistic, not abstract. I use oil paints, color pencils and drawing is essential in all of them.
I always work with the sketches first and then I go to the canvas after I decide the size and color of the figures. The usage of the color stays in similar tone. I like transforming the oil painting in something liquid and thin into give the figures the flatness and forms that I want.
